Hi! I’m Kia, and I love collaborating and journeying alongside teachers!

I am a passionate educator, writer, and advocate for equity by way of representation in the world language curriculum and classroom. As a certified coach and mentor, I carry nineteen years of experience in the classroom, and have taught Spanish for all grade levels K-12. I currently teach Spanish to students in high school. 

 Previously, I had an additional role as an Equity & Belonging Resource to support the teaching staff and students in my former school community. I am also very excited to continue my work with ACTFL, serving on the Teacher Recruitment & Retention Committee, and the DEI Committee!

I want to take a second to highlight one of our amazing resources, which is our curriculum coaching program, Leading Through Belonging, Equity & Interculturality. It is a specialized cohort that provides a space to ask any questions that you have pertaining to challenges you have encountered, share your progress, heartfelt stories/testimonies, what you are doing in the classroom, and most importantly, A PLACE TO GROW!
